The Long Beach Media Scene is actually kind of packed. We have the Press Telegram of course, and let's see; LBReport, LBPost, Everything Long Beach, The Gazette, a long list of citizen reporting in the form of a ton of blogs, and I'm sure another half a dozen that I'm leaving off. So with the passing of The District Weekly, which love it or leave it creates a large whole in the LB Media Scene, I wanted to try to get a gauge of what you all see as missing... Do you think there's too much overlap, not enough old school "journalism", what is not being talked about that needs to be focused on and covered more????

If you can, take a second and answer our quick survey on the home page. We'd really like to hear see your comments and who knows, maybe we'll even share with the others listed above. :)

A quick note before you click away. I don't know if we've ever really put this out there, but this is what 562CityLife tries to be about.

At 562CityLife, we are a community based and focused site. We aim to keep it cultural, a little bit political, and ALWAYS in the know. We want to know what's going on, and we want to help share that information with all of you! This site is meant to organically grow and strengthen ties within and to the LB community as a whole. It's an open forum, we welcome and encourage YOUR voice here. 562CityLife is for ALL parts of Long Beach. If you're looking to share news of an event you have coming up, we're here. If you want to yell and scream about something important to you, we're here. If you want to connect with new people or organizations right here in Long Beach, we're here. This is a social network for the people of Long Beach by the people of Long Beach. We work hard to generate in-house content for you, but please always remember this is for you AND by you.

OK, well that's my soap box for the day. Now go click on that survey and then go out and enjoy our BAD ASS LB Weather!

When a leader in the arts community is asked for a list of nonProfits in the City for a major news article and neither the city's oldest or newest org is mentioned, what do you call that?

When I went to "Create Long Beach" I heard someone mention ThePrimeSpot.com as the site that lists all community/info related websites more than any others (I disagree, TPS may have been around longer but think LongBeachOnline.net is more complete).

When you omit links and/or don't approve certain facebook friends, is that being biased?

Has anyone heard of LBmediacenter.com ? Didn't think so ;)

I don't think there's enough diversity in LB media, other than Press Telegram. The District Weekly was cool, but sometimes I would read articles about shit going on in the OC and I'll see the same band reviews more than once. I mean it's a tight publication, but it wasn't all that. Real talk.

Hey Brian, just jump to the home page and scroll down a bit. (we know it's kind of lame to not just have a link, but it just is what it is... :0)

I am kind of slow, did I miss the link for the survey. What is missing for this half million person city, 2 million person metro (counting Gateway Cities COG population). Television, radio and print. LBC has been doing a good job taking advantage of modern technology but to have a local network news station that has stories about this city that are not shocking enough to break LA Metro news is kind of sad.

A 2pm Tweet from TheDistrict today reads: A mysterious savior? This may not be the end of The District Weekly...

Good blog man. Yes, the District does create a big hole in media right here in the LBC. I'm glad it's being said that 562CityLife is here for EVERYONE in Long Beach to do and say whatever they want.

I think there needs to be more coverage of other parts of Long Beach, because real talk, I'm tired of reading about Belmont Shore, Downtown and 4th St. No diss to those parts of town, but LB is MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger than those few areas!
