Strating tomorrow 5/4 and then repeating every Wedensday at 11:30am the corners of Anaheim Street and Coronado Avenue will be turned into the new Food Truck central for Long Beach.

You can follow the "Lunch Truck It" Twitter feed and Facebook pages for full updates and more information.

Some have expressed concern over the presence of Food Trucks in the city and the possible impact that may have on existing Long Beach food establishments, me personally I look forward to tasting the treats, but what do you think?

I love this, I might have to find a way to get there during lunch to check this out!

P.S. Does anyone know what time do the trucks get to the BEST BUY parking lot on wednesdays & what time do they leave?

This is a cool thing going on. I just got finished checking out some photos of food truck dishes, and I'm ready to make this happen!

I like the location of it because it's not in the usual area of downtown. If I was a visitor from out of town, I would be thinking, "Damn, Long Beach has cool stuff ALL over town!"

But to answer @Gdub's concern about it not being downtown, this is because it's not really a city-wide initiative. This is put on by 4th District Councilmember Patrick O'Donnell. His District boundaries doesn't cover the downtown area. It doesn't say it in this blog, but if you click on the website, http://www.lunchtruckit.com/ it will tell you more about the event.

Cool that they're finally making a presence in LB.

Heard that the Signal Hills Monday night weekly event was canceled, due to complaints... but never heard the who/why.

One of the guys that worked on a truck during that event said that they have to get a permit to work in Long Beach, besides the county (LA/OC) ones... is there truth to that?  (I have no clue, but figured it came from a decent source, and would explain why not many trucks would come within city limits).

What an odd location!  No park nearby, not much else there.  We can combine food with trips to Fabric Barn. ;)

Holly is correct. As well as parking...
Comment by Holly Bingham on May 3, 2011 at 12:15pm
@GDub I believe the limitation of location is occurring because many folks are concerned about sanitation and..... taxation.
Comment by Bgarcia on May 3, 2011 at 12:13pm
I think LB needs to get in on this hype all cities are doing it.
Comment by GDub on May 3, 2011 at 12:12pm
I saw the same article in the LB Post and don't quite understand why the trucks will only be allowed in that one tiny part of the city - those of us who work downtown and are bored with only having Pine Ave as a nearby dining option for lunch would gladly welcome them setting up down in this area too. But with that being said, I am glad that at least this is a start. Crossing fingers that they can expand out to other parts of the city soon. (and definitely looking forward to future Street Food Festivals!)
