Yesterday, I went looking for a place where I can do my homework and get something to drink to warm me up! My 562 buddie Vanessa told me about PORTFOLIO COFFEEHOUSE, so I was thinking of trying it out. Then I ran across a place on YELP.com called GOOD VIBES cafe, so I decided to try that out (since I knew EXACTLY where it was @).I parked my car in front of Good Vibes and proceeded to the front door. When I looked across the street I saw the most BEaUtifuL cafe EVER! SIPOLOGY!
Located @
446 East Broadway
Long Beach, CA 90802-4909
562-432-7747
OPEN HOURS: Monday to Sunday 10:00 am to 10:00 pm

NOT only is it a cafe, but a free art gallery as well! The shop is cozy and looks like a loft!
They have only been open for 4 days (as of yesterday) and business was looking GREAT!

I'm a fan of Sipology. They just opened beginning of April and the Green Long Beach! Festival planning team has been meeting at Sipology Monday, Tues, and Weds evenings. One of the owners (Isaac?) is really cool and accommodating for people that want to reserve some space for a group. They've got a cool small room that can be used. And I like that they have an upstairs area too to hang out at. Plus their art gallery room is cool. oh and I love the grilled chicken panini sandwich with pesto spread. it's yummers!

I've seen Sipology and i love that building! but haven't had the heart to go in, because i'm usually sitting in front of Good Vibes. do you guys remember the blue nile cafe that use to be right next door to Sipology's spot? i wish it never closed down. i feel bad for Good Vibes, because the competition is really impacting their business. Jamal, the owner of Good Vibes, is a very kind and humble man and is the heart of that place. i wish him luck.

4th Street: Portfolio's is great on a Weds if you like Open Mics, mostly music... Viento Y Agua has great music nights and lots of events.. Downtown: Sipology's art exhibit has been open for a while but they just recently started serving food (not sure of their music situation but there is a new club opening downstairs in place of the Basement). .. and what I like best about Good Vibes is that you can request the music video "Ladies of Linden" featuring the music of downtown musician Susan Picking!

I just got a coffee there today and it was nice and strong. It's a fabulous spot and I hear they have some gourmet grub there too. This area is coffeehouse corner, I've seen so many incarnations of different shops; I hope they thrive. It's nice to find a place that has a decent menu and good brews.

I drove by there, yea it looks like a cool spot. There's another cool spot in N. LB. Called The Mirage on Atlantic and Bixby. It's also a hooka lounge. Oh yea check out Viento y Agua too on 4th st. somewhere. That place is dope. I don't really like Portfolios too much. It's too hipster and snobby for me...
