September was a crazy fun month as LBPP celebrated our 5th annual Talk Like A Pirate Day Party which was held at Clancy's in Long Beach. This year the holiday fell on a Sunday so we kept it kinda low key, but everyone had a blast. With a great line up of all local bands, tons of free pirate swag, and cheap cold beer on tap how could you go wrong.
Things stated off a bit slow, but once the pirates started showing up the fun really got started. The Blob kicked things off with some in your face old school style punk rock. Daniel the Turtle from Supa Pirate Booty Hunt joined in the fun and bounced around the dance floor for a couple of songs. Next up was The Nailers, a rockabilly/punk band from Long Beach who did a great job filling in for the night. Their style was a great change of pace, yet still fit in just fine with the night.
By the time The Disgustingtons took the stage I had my drunken pirate swerve on and the tunes were the perfect fuel for a Sunday night full of drinks and friends. A few more rounds and a few more friends show up just in time to catch the last band The Plexikill, who just released their brand new album last week. Straight ahead punk rock, these guys know how to control their sound and even with a weak PA they still sounded strong. Nothing is better then checking out all the action yourself so peep the video!
