Most Dangerous Intersections in Long Beach

Is there a place in Long Beach that you dread making a left hand turn or crossing because you've alost hit or been hit? Well that's what this blog is about today, to inform you of those danger spots. So today, I was rollin' around in the LBC and I had a few close calls... By close calls I mean near death experiences aka car crashes. Well maybe not near death, but I've been in a horrible motorcycle accident on Mother's Day of '07 so I know what it feels like to get close to being killed but that's another story...

I parked the car, came home and checked to see if I can find out what are the most dangerous intersections in Long Beach. Luckily, I was able to come across a map that showed what intersections seemed to be most hazardous.

Below is a map that shows what areas you may want to avoid. If you have some experiences in the areas shown below, please share your story! Click on this link to see the map in a larger view.

i love the traffic circle! that's a baby one compare to the ones that they have in Mexico but it is dangerous, lot of people do not know how to drive in through them.. it reminds me of National Lampoons vacation lol

Not really an intersection, but how about the traffic circle? I avoid that area at any cost.

@LB Chica, man I know exactly where that is. I think part of the problem is that intersection is just flat-out confusing even for someone like me who's from Long Beach. Imagine someone from out of town - sheesh.

LBChica is right that intersection is horrible. Another is the whole Los Coyotes/Clark/Stearns thing... A new one though that makes NO sense to me is Third (I think) and Clark. This intersection is now the proud owner of one of these new little "Round About" things. Supposedly this is to make the intersection safer for bicyclists, but they may it a 4-way yield, instead of a four way or even two way stop... it's like a mini-traffic circle, but feels even more dangerous because there's less room to watch for other cars and move out of the way... I've gone through other round abouts like this (up in Pasadena) and they more sense because they're actual four way STOP intersections... so, I think this is now my "Most Dangerous Intersection" in Long Beach.

Whew - That was a good rant, OK, I feel better now...

Redondo & 7th is a bad one, I live near by and see accidents there all the time. I do dread and even rather take the long way than to make any turns on to PCH or Anaheim. People just keep turning even way after the light turn red.
