The selections have been made for the upcoming
Long Beach Red Bull Flugtag event that will begin August 21 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Earlier this year, I went to the
voting party on top of Avia Hotel to help choose the best human-powered float. This will be the first time Red Bull is bringing the Flugtag event to our city of Long Beach.
The 38 most creative teams have been selected to fly off the 30 foot ramp in Rainbow Harbor and here they are. I must say, they are pretty creative and funny.
Team Air Force One (Lakewood) - Brothers and friends creating a giant flying President Obama head!
Fish 'n' CHiPs (Signal Hill) - Team from Gladstones on Rainbow Harbor, they are raising money for the California Highway Patrol’s 11-99 Foundation
Flies like a Butterfly, but Stings like a Ray (Signal Hill) - students at CSULB building a giant, flying stingray
Flight of the Spruce Goose (Long Beach) - Long Beach Convention center team
Flight of the Vigilante (Long Beach) - students at CSULB building a giant pinata
Sgt Peppers Flying Pianos (Long Beach) - Can pianos fly? The team from Sgt. Pepper’s Dueling Piano Cafe thinks so...
You Can't Touch This Productions (Long Beach) - This team mostly lives in Huntington Beach, but will be building in Long Beach. They will bring back MC Hammer for a final flying performance.
Team Jetsons (Carson) - This team is made up of members of Los Angeles County Fire Department - Fire Station 36. They are building their Jetsons-themed craft in the firehouse.
If they bring it back next year, will you participate? If so, what cool ideas do you have?
