George’s Greek Café is teaming up with the Karimu Foundation for a day of fundraising. On February 23rd, 2011 George’s Greek Café will help to raise money for the CSULB study abroad group that will be traveling to Bacho Village, Tanzania in Africa this August. Through their efforts and with a community arts project, they will build a new high school and also help provide clean water and proper health care to the disadvantaged Ufani School children.
You can join George’s Greek Cafe and the Karimu International Help Foundation to make this day successful. By providing this print out upon dining with on February 23rd, 15% of your entire bill will go straight to these efforts.
The history of the Karimu Foundation’s involvement with the Ufani School begins with a July 2007 visit to Tanzania by Don Stoll and his wife Marianne Kent-Stoll, high-school teachers in Santa Cruz, California. Within minutes of stumbling across the Ufani School, they knew they had a job to do. They carried only enough money with them to pay for the cement and the labor of local construction workers needed to finish a privacy shelter for a new set of squat-hole toilets for the students. But Don and Marianne promised the teachers and the villagers they would raise more money in California. Through continued volunteer hours and support of various community involvements, the Ufani School will benefit for years to come.
