Another Man Shot in Long Beach on Lime Avenue

This is one of the reasons why I stay away from certain areas in Long Beach. I don't want to get shot or killed. I was reading the Press Telegram and I came across another story of someone being shot. There was video footage of a car with it's windows shot out. The man is said to still be alive.

Are you near this area? How safe do you feel in Long Beach or in certain parts in Long Beach?

"LONG BEACH - A man shot in Long Beach was hospitalized today.

The shooting in the 2200 block of Lime Avenue was reported about 10:45 p.m. Monday, Long Beach police Lt. Paul LeBaron said.

"There was a shooting, and the suspect is outstanding," LeBaron told City News Service. "The individual who was struck is in an unknown condition but still alive."

He was taken to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, authorities said. Video from the scene showed a car with shot-out windows and some clothes in the street. The victim may have been an off-duty security guard, On Scene reported."

that's a great idea on the phone app, maybe your phone should start beeping once you are getting near a bad area lol

Yup is way different with guys!

not sure how it is in other cities but in Long Beach is hard to say what is a bad area, the scenery changes as you turn every corner..

Yea, I've been in some pretty bad situations before and I know certain people that I shouldn't be around. For example, if I'm at a bar or lounge and I know someone who has a reputation there for starting stuff whether it's gang violence or other, I make sure my alert level goes WAAAY up.

I agree w/ you Larry, when I'm w/ a female friend I do think the risk factor goes up...

I'm usually not afraid to go "nearly" anywhere in any city if I'm by myself or with guy friends. This is probably being a bit stupid on my part. But, when I was married (or with any girl), my sense of precaution goes way up because I think the risk factor goes up. Mostly I just go downtown LB, but I've been wandering further out. And often this is at night. I'm not sure exactly where are those "certain parts" of LB that I would be wise to avoid. This kind of information is hard to find on the internet. It's not like Mapquest has a view that shades in the "danger zones". Wonder if iphone has an App for that yet? haha!!

Most of my business & everyday life is downtown & East Long Beach, I won't drive certain areas of Long Beach late at night or even during day. I know is sad but I rather be careful, but is true we had so many random crime incidents that you just don't know anymore..

Is this the same incident that was happening yesterday early morning? where the SWAT team showed up?

Quite unfortunate is any shooting. There is truth that some areas of Long Beach are more prone to crime and shootings than others. It makes safety sense to avoid those areas, but crime and shooting happen everywhere and to avoid them one would have to be barricaded in their home. Go out where you need to be, but be aleret, careful and aware of your surroundings. And pray to God to keep you safe. It is ultimately his decision on your life and the length of it.
