Ladies and gentlemen, Valentine’s Day is approaching and the Long Beach Playhouse is providing couples and singles with a fantastic option that no where boarders a traditional dinner in a crowded restaurant or spending the night at home, alone.
The playhouse has invited internationally renowned speaker and expert on art and film, Mr. Gregorio Luke, to present a lecture exploring the intimate connection between art and sex, eroticism and love, appropriately titled “The Art of Love.”
Sounds exciting, right?
His presentation will include examples of love and eroticism in literature from both historical and modern texts. Luke will also present slides of famous erotic art, read lovers poetry and discuss mythic lovers like Casanova and Don Juan, the playhouse mentioned in a press release.
Luke has a history of presenting this lecture in Long Beach, as he hosted it on this holiday for many years at the Museum of Latin American Art, where he was Director from 1999-2007.
Last year, he presented at the Maya Hotel’s Fuego Restaurant, but is always updating his delivery, as he continues to travel and learn of the universal sensation of love and eroticism.
Luke has also presented over 1,000 lectures in museums and universities around the world and in such prestigious institutions as the Library of Congress, The Smithsonian Institution, Columbia, Harvard, and Georgetown Universities, to name a few.
“We are thrilled to be working with Gregorio again. He brings such passion and excitement to all of his presentations, so Valentine's Day is a perfect time for him to really shine,” said Lauren Morris, Managing Director at the Long Beach Playhouse.
The lecture is around 90 minutes, but the evening will also include aphrodisiac hors d’oeurvres, prepared by Moondance catering and a bottle of either red or white wine for couples or two glasses for singles, with the list selected by sommelier Justin Evelyn. Live music and dance will also be included in the package, costing $45 per person, or $89 a couple.
The night begins and ends at 6:30 to 10 p.m. February 14th, with the lecture starting at 8 p.m. The Long Beach Playhouse is located at 5021 E. Anaheim St., Long Beach, CA and tickets can be purchased online at www.lbplayhouse.org or by phone at (562) 494-1014.
