Driving by the old site of Brooks College last week, it was a trip to see the front building being completely torn down. I spent a good ten years kicking around this place as as student, teacher, and staff; so this scene made me stop and wonder... how long until I'm the old guy down at the bar talking about "I remember when"???

I wonder what the neighbors think. I know many of them never really liked having Brooks next door, but will they be any happier having Long Beach State dorms???

I do know for sure that the businesses close by are excited, the guys at my favorite pizza place Valentinoes ask me every time how long until they open up. I guess the article in the LBPost.com the other day about the idea of integrating a college campus into the downtown area really would help stimulate the economy down there...

That's heartbreaking. I too worked at Brooks College for a good 4+ years and met many great people. I tend to avoid the area now since leaving in late 2008 only because its a sad scene.

Brooks College did alot for the surrounding community and will truly be missed.

thats an interesting way to stimulate the economy down there... Yea I remember when I went for an interview at that school because I wanted to be into game design, but I just wanted to write stories for games not like design levels. Jenny on our citylife members is a writer for LBPOST.COM
