Long Beach artist Timothy Bulone’s work will hang at the El Dorado Nature Center here beginning Saturday, July 6. Bulone creates each of his images by starting with a digital photograph, then using a variety of computer programs to render them into art that is “more representational, more evocative, and more revelatory” than the original photo, he says. Some 300 students raced in the first Annual Solar Grand Prix this past weekend. The event was organized and hosted by Long Beach's Solar and Sustainability task force along with Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske. The competition involved students, grade 6-12, being invited to design and build a solar-powered model car to race. Pretty nerdy right? I know, AWESOME! So, of course we had to go check out the action.
