Long Beach artist Timothy Bulone’s work will hang at the El Dorado Nature Center here beginning Saturday, July 6. Bulone creates each of his images by starting with a digital photograph, then using a variety of computer programs to render them into art that is “more representational, more evocative, and more revelatory” than the original photo, he says. "Digital art sounds much too cold to me. I think of it as photographic art and of myself as an artist working in photography. I am so thankful…See More

It's seems like times are definitely changing. Not sure if it's for the good or bad or whatever. But definitely, the closing of the world famous V.I.P. record store is in my opinion, another defeat in Long Beach's small business scene. For those who don't know (which I hope aren't many of you CIty Lifers), V.I.P. is home to many old school hip hop videos that featured Warren G, Snoop, Nate Dogg, and more. Remember this video? To be…See More

I was checking the headlines today, and I came across a story about a man being killed in Belmont Shore by a police officer after an altercation with the man who allegedly had a gun. Authorities have not released the name of the man who died at the scene.…

Last night's City Council meeting voted on a city-wide ban on smoking in public parks. If you're caught smoking anything at a park in Long Beach, you'll be hit with a $100 the first time, $200 the next time and $500 for each violation after the first two. I don't smoke, so it doesn't really change anything for me, but for those of you who do, how do you feel about this?
I'm actually surprised that this actually went… Continue
The art scene in Long Beach has really became what Twitter would call, a "trending topic." The abundance of art in this city continues to contribute culture to our community. With that said, I feel that there is one category of art that I feel is lacking representation and that is the Black art scene.
What's up CityLifers? Yesterday's 108 degrees of heat, was felt by everyone in the LB. Today should be no different, according to the Associated Press. The article says that it will be hot as hell today, but temperatures will be lower than it was on Monday.
I just wanted to give you a heads-up for today.
"Another day of searing heat was on tap for California Tuesday, but temperatures were expected to begin heading downward. A blistering fall heat wave broke…Continue
I went on a tour with fellow Ninth District neighbors. Real cool experience. Here are some photos I wanted to share with City Lifers. These shots were taken on a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S750. If you can leave feedback. Fasho.
Good morning CityLifers. It's Friday in the LBC and it's time to get the weekend started. I just wanted to let you all know about some police warnings that have been going out lately. Belmont Shore has been getting hit pretty hard with robberies and the police and advising people stay on alert for these cat burglars.
We all know that Belmont Shore is known for it's nice homes, hell, some people from there don't even… Continue
