Long Beach Roller Derby's Great Bout last Friday 4th St Retro Rollers advance to Championships Dec. 9th

Even early on in the LBRD's Big Red Party Bus, the excitement is palpable; though how much of that is drunken revelry is unclear.  I know that I am doing my part, both with the anticipation and the drunkeness. Tonight is the Semi-finals.  The Fourth Street Retro Rollers are taking on the newest team in the league, the Belmont Hot Broads.  Fourth Street placed third out of three last season, and well aware that losing tonight might bring the label of being a…

Veteran's Day

Semper Fidelis, the motto of the United States Marine Corps, means “always faithful.” In the recent years, it seems as if that fidelity, which is so celebrated, is not being reciprocated by the leadership in the U.S. to military service veterans.

On Friday, Nov. 11, Americans nationwide will once again bring out the colors of the country and its military services. Speeches will be given, honoring those serving and who have served. Politicians will pose in front of troops, and…

For those of you who care, I saw the future the other day. No joke. As you know I work with kids in an after-school program here in Long Beach. Fellow worker brought it to my attention that one of her first graders simply would not do his homework and sure as hell wouldn't stay in his seat. At first I laughed it off, because why they hell would he want to stay in his seat.

Finally when I worked with him, I put my tablet in front of him and opened up my subtraction app. I don't know… Continue

The right to Assemble and Freedom of Speech

There is no Constitutionally protected right to violate the rights of others while in the course of exercising one's own rights. It's only an abridgment of rights when the law or ordinance is post ex facto to the action at hand. Since the ordinance is preexisting, no rights have been abridged or denied.

Once you've grown tired of sleeping outdoors and another cause grabs your attention, you will go back to your homes, apartments, or dorms - and the other 99% of Long Beach residents…

The 99%: Official list of Occupy Wall Street’s supporters, sponsors and sympathizers

October 31, 2011 - 10:48 am - by Zombie

The Occupy Wall Street movement has received so much media coverage in recent weeks that it’s nearly impossible to keep abreast of all the developments. Supporters and detractors of OWS both might find it…
