Tragedy at Wilson High

It is with a very heavy heart that we post the info on the tragic killing outside Wilson High School last night. Words really can't do this justice, but we would like to convey our deepest sympathies to the friends and family of Melody Ross.

Below is the statement from LBUSD which has just been released.

The 16-year-old girl who died last night after a shooting outside Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach was an eleventh grade student and athlete at the… Continue

Catalyst Needs Your Help!

Dear friends,

I'm writing to you this important note because Catalyst has an immediate need and we can't continue forward without the support of our community. We need to raise $1,200 by November 1st so that we can cover the cost of rent for the Catalyst Space! If only 100 people will pledge to invest $12 per month, then we can continue to do the work that we're doing. Will you please help?

Our Work So Far

We incorporated Catalyst in 2006… Continue

Adventures in Health Care

The Pedro (yes, I refer to myself in 3rd person VERY often) is self-employed.

He left his old career quite a while ago, and now his COBRA coverage is about to expire.

Shopping for health insurance is a pain. Anybody who has ever had to do it can confirm this. I have an added twist...my pre-existing condition.

I was diagnosed as bipolar in my early 20's. I can't function as a productive member of society without my meds. Because of this, I have always needed… Continue

Marijuana

I know In this blog I will be opening myself up to a myriad of reactions and comments. I personally have so many views that contradict each other in a traditional moralistic sense. Accepting marijuana in our society as another normal natural and common thing in our lives is something that I always stay away from when conversing. legalizing it and taxing it would do this state good only if the people running it would stop ripping us off. If our government would first take care of the management… Continue

UPDATED With Zombie Photos - Mondo Celluloid Presents 4th Street Zombie Walk and Night of The Living Dead

4th Street (Retro Row) was anything but quiet last night. Gurgling's and moaning filled the street. Zombies' officially took over the night. There was a chill in the air but not from the weather. The chill was due to creepy, disfigured beings that roamed their way from Portfolio Coffeehouse to the Art Theatre. Blood, loose limbs, and tattered clothing adorned the zombies on their night to shine. And shine they did!

Logan Crow (he is in the top photo!!!) of… Continue

Measure T - The People Speak

Are you willing to spend more on public education?

The Tuesday, Nov. 3rd, special election on Measure T poses a basic question we all have to ask ourselves; how much are you willing to spend on public services? We are all part of a greater community and all in this community at one time or another draw on certain shared resources such as Fire Department, Police Services, Roads, and Public Education. These shared resources are often times all also… Continue

Opportunity Knocks

I am always humbled when people compliment the Art work I create. I know they like it so they want to tell me what they feel. I find it hard sometimes to take these compliments. I love doing what I do but I sometimes have a different perspective or opinion of my own work. It sucks. With that being said. I still have a following of people that request me to paint them paintings and still enjoy looking at my art. That is wonderful. I have been getting a lot of calls and e-mails lately to show my… Continue
