May 11, 2013 from 3pm to 4:15pm
In this hour-long documentary film a young multi-racial Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) woman, filmmaker Christen Hepuakoa Marquez, sets out to discover the meaning of her incredibly lengthy Hawaiian name from her estranged mother whose diagnosis as schizophrenic in the 80′s caused their family separation. Christen discovers not only herself within the name, but gains a whole new perspective on the idea of sanity and how cultural differences can sometimes muddle its definition.See More

A little story for yah!....

So I bought newer car this past weekend and like any new owner, is still taking me time to know what the heck is this & that in my car.

As I was going through it yesterday morning, I found what I thought was a compartment, I opened it and saw "something", it was kind of dark in my garage & I had to leave to work so I left it alone.

Curiosity was killing me so when I got to school that afternoon I opened that sucker right away and found this:…

Why do you volunteer?

For those of you who do volunteer, I have a few questions.

Why do you do it? What motivates you? What causes are closest to your heart?

I'm working on a zine dedicated entirely to charity work. Your response &/or organization can be featured! Do you have a store that donates goods or services? Do you run an organization? Tell me about it!

Either message me or email me at 4briannesbasics@gmail.com Thanks guys!

Sex in Long Beach

In addition to Earth Day, and National Library Month April is STI awareness month.

STI ? STD ? what's the difference ?

An STI is a sexually transmitted infection, and a STD is a sexually transmitted disease. STIs are different from STDs, an infection is when the virus or bacteria that causes a disease is present in the body. Having a STD means the infection has moved beyond the colonization stage, which is why it is important to get… Continue

Medusa Has The Look You Need

If you've seen some of my videos, you'll know that sometimes (probably most of the time) I'm not looking too hot. When I don't hit the barber shop, my facial hair makes people think I'm getting ready to star in Castaway 2. Underneath a pale gray sky, it was an ugly day, but it didn't have to match the way I felt about myself inside my heart (queue tear drops). To highlight the day I went to Bixby Knolls to… Continue

Long Beach Grand Prix Free/Cheap Tickets (who knows where to get them?)

Any sources for Free/Cheap Tickets Saturday or Sunday?

I know The Man has special karisma so thay just let him walk in without paying.
But us normal folks probably need a ticket... :)

But if someone knows a back door entrance, maybe we could meet up and sneek in as a group.

Tax Day Freebies April 15th

Found this in a couple of online articles yesterday (I did get my free coffee today April 15th!)

Few truths are more universal: No one likes to pay taxes, and everyone loves to get things for free.

Restaurants and other retailers are offering freebies to reduce people's angst over their income taxes -- which must be postmarked or e-filed by Thursday.

Here are some of the freebies and discounts on offer… Continue

Ronald McDonald House Walk For Kids

We got there about 640am, right before a rush of people arrived. Walking in we saw trucks for CSI, Parenthood, & CougarTown. As we got closer to the registration area, I realized we were in the famous Court Of Miracles. Lots of movies have filmed there: The Mummy, Scorpion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, & lots of old old movies. We checked in & I turned in the rest of my donations, which brought my total to $200! Got my shirt, then I took a pic in front of the team photo area with… Continue
