2009 Winter Adult Baseball League Champs: The Brew Crew

June 7, 2009 was the day of the adult baseball league championships of the Brew Crew vs. The Padres. This was a close back and forth game between the two contenders.

The Padres lead the game for 8 innings, the Brew Crew caught up and was leading by 2 runs in the bottom of the 8th. But the Padres hit a 2 run home-run to tie the game in the top of the 9th.

Coach and 3rd baseman, Nima Novin spoke about todays game, "Today was a weird game because we usually jump out early and then get trapped near the end. But today we actually started out behind and everyone had to stay focused to not only get back into the game but to hold on to win."

The game was decided with a ground rule double play due to the ball rolling under the fence which granted the 2 of the runners double bases in the bottom of the 9th inning resulting in a 11-10 win for the Brew Crew.

Left outfielder, Tom Terrell reflected on the game, "We had been so strong all season, most of our games we were the team ahead by a few runs. but this game we were chasin the other team, and with some clutch hitting we were able to catch back up and take our first lead in the bottom of the 8th. it was a cool feeling to come back like that, as it seemed as if our guys got more pumped as it came down to the final innings."

When asked what kept the Brew Crew in the game, Coach Novin said, "Everyone stayed involved and helped out their other teammates."

Now that the season is over, will the Brew Crew make another appearance to defend their title? "I'd say it's 50/50. We have a lot of players with other obligations over the summer but if we can return a good ammount of the core we will try to defend the title and start a dynasty." Novin said.
