I'm not sure if they actually take suggestions, but assuming they did. What movies would you like to see played? Note: They have to be movies you'd absolutely go watch!
This year marks the 25th year anniversary of Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing. Community Theaters have been showing the film in tribute. We left a comment on the MySpace of the Long Beach Art Theater. I thought that if you too would like to see this film on the big screen that you could also leave them a comment... myspace.com/arttheatrelongbeach
BTW - The Art Theater got back to me via MySpace and said they dug the idea of playing Do The Right Thing, and would let us know... so, we'll see what happens...
Hmm...I wanna see,This Is The Life: How The West Was One it won so many awards and it's about how westcoast underground hip hop came to be. Just came out on DVD too.
Check out the awards it won!
Here's a trailer for the video.
Winner! Best Documentary Audience Award
Pan-African Film Festival 2008
Winner! Audience Award, Documentary
ReelWorld Film Festival 2008
Winner! Audience Award, First Place
Langston Hughes African-American Film Festival 2008
If they play this I will feel like one of my yearly goals has been completed
Thanks so much for the suggestions - keep them coming!
As proof positive that we take your recommendations seriously, we will be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Do the Right Thing with two screenings on Tuesday, May 12th - 6:00pm, and a special 8:30pm screening co-hosted by 562CityLife!
My choice would be - BATMAN. Not the one with Christian Bale but the one with Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson. I saw this movie as a kid and for me it was a revelation, a calling that I wanted to somehow; some way be involved in film. Be it writing, producing, directing, editing or all the above.
BTW, it'll be 20 years this summer that this movie was released and set BO records.
The Man... I sent them a follow-up suggestion for Spike Lee's Movie to see if they will include it along with an ethnic artist via their FB page, since I've given up on using MySpace....hope to here something soon.
