Does anyone know of local stores that support fundraising or charities? I'm fundraising for 3 local organizations, & I'm hoping to set up change jars in local stores. Small jars where patrons can deposit any spare change they have. I posted a blog about who I'm raising for. Any ideas? Thank you!

Nice! We'll help get the word out... we've been trying to work out some ways to support that too...
There are several on 4th St. between Cherry and Termino. I have had a few fundraisers, and have hit all the boutiques there, and they were all wonderful and very generous (at the time). I usually get gift certificates to raffle off.

I book the event at a location that I can spin music, and either charge a $5.00 fee as a donation, then sell raffle tickets for $1.00 each. I usually have about 25-30 prizes to give away. The best night I had was for a friend that need money to buy meds. She was not employed and very sick. I got 2 bands to perform for free, charged $5.00 at the door, and sold $300.00+ in raffle tickets, and made about $1350.00 that night.

Also the salon that is next to Portfolio's gave me a gift certificate for a fundraiser raffle. The Prospector was another. They once gave me a $50.00 gift certificate to use at my event. You can also try Shoreline Village, 2nd Street in Belmont Shore, Marina Pacifica, Los Altos Shopping Center and The Market Place. There are many fine restaurants and shops that will donate for a worthy cause.

You will have to take something with you to show that you are legit, and not running some sort of scam. And you will have to promise the establishment that you will announce their name and give them props during your event as a return courtesy. Also let them know that if they have business cards or fliers, you will have them there on a table for your patrons to have. Also let them know that you can hang posters in return for their generous donation and contribution to the cause. One hand washes the other when it comes to these things.

If you need more help, or need to secure a venue for your event for FREE, let me know. Maybe I can help you out there. Also, if you need a DJ for that night, and possibly a band, act or performer to keep it lively, let me know. I will volunteer my services for FREE and get you an act or two that will do the same.

Good luck and keep in touch.

That would be great! A network would really help volunteers & organizations alike. I'm not picky. I just need a tiny little counter space LOL
