Recent articles have also been posted to EVfriends.com (friends of the EastVillageArtsDistrict.org ).

The East Village would be THE perfect place for mandatory garbage separation to start ;)

The "Discussion Forum" is kind of better then the "Comment Wall", because you get notifications of activity and it reminds you to come check. But Hello and HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Hey everyone!

Be sure to check out the Green Long Beach! Festival on Saturday, May 9th from 9am - 10pm in the East Village Arts District. It will feature a main stage with live entertainment along with a wide array of visual and performing artists, activities, music, booths and vendors, farmer’s market, and informational workshops. Teams of local artists will design the creative landscape of streets, alleys and the East Village Art Park featuring a common theme of getting “Down to Earth.” Get “Down to Earth” by bringing your own reusable tote bag to the festival and your own t-shirt to have the festival logo printed right on. Pre-festival events are scheduled for early t-shirt printing and art displays.

I'm originally from back east where they have mandatory garbage separation. I brought this up at a town hall meeting with the mayor, city mgr, council people present.

Is there someone really green with lots of time on hand to push this issue?

Imagine if just the schools and businesses did it? Then add residences, apartment buildings... Some people respond that the trash is separated by the collectors but newspaper and coffeegrinds (or dog poop) seem inseparable, yes?

Just recently the NBA has adopted the idea of Going Green. Through April 2-10, the NBA will host 'Green Week' to raise awareness and funds in the efforts to protect the environment.
