Long Beach artist Timothy Bulone’s work will hang at the El Dorado Nature Center here beginning Saturday, July 6. What's your thing?

We all have "a thing", or a couple of "things". Mine is this site, my family, and nerdy stuff like Star Wars. I also of course really like the local arts, music, and "culture" activities that are ALWAYS going in in town. For some of you your thing might be sports, cooking, business, photography, Roller Derby, movies, making music... etc, etc, etc.

So I thought I would ask, what exactly is your "thing". What drives you, what's your passion? Hopefully you guys will find some common "things", and maybe start up a new friendship or two.

I know that one of the TheMan's things is Anime and Magna, secret nerd.

Matt, you are correct, Anime and Manga is my steez.

But for my "thing" is all things 562CityLife all day. Building up those around me, motorcycles, business (a new thing that I never would've thought), hip hop, jazz, The Cure, boxing, day dreaming, naps.

I think that's all I can think of right now.

Uhm let's see "my thing" is being part of community events close to me but some of my passions are:

movies, taking pictures, music, cooking & volunteering ... but I think Roller Derby is going to be added to that list =)

My things: thinking big like Daniel Burnham, "make no little plans..." and thinking small like Jane Jacobs, "The point of cities is multiplicity of choice." I am obviously a city-geek. I live and breathe cities. My other things are music videos from Kanye to 30STM. My secret things are wrestling and politics (kind of the same in fact).

Hmm. My things?

I like making my brain work in new ways.

I like seeing the world, all of it, as an amazing work of kinetic art.

I like listening. Sounds reveal so much.

I like challenging the thinking of others, perhaps more gently now than when I was younger.

I like chaos, and order, and tension, and release.

I like being completely present in a given moment, and cherishing all aspects if its unfolding.

I love my family, my pets, my friends, this town, and this pale blue dot we call home.
