What do you like least about living in Long Beach?

Not to be all negative or anything, but we talk a lot about what's good about Long Beach on here... so what about what's not so good? Is it something LB specific or is it more of a SoCal thing?

Here's one of my "issues" - The mexican food kind of sucks... I mean seriously, it's either chain restaurant junk, sorry Acapulco's, or greasy, lardy, fried nastiness, sorry SuperMex.

OK, I went first... now it's your turn...

I agree about the mexican food. There is a lack of quality authentic Mexican food. I go to the same places all the time, but wish there was even a good taco truck somewhere! I do like Don Chente, though. They have liquados and a pretty big menu and the chocolate flan is quite good too.

Since we're on the subject of food, one complaint I have is that the majority of restaurants close at 9pm on weekdays, and 10pm on weekends. It would be great to have some hip late night eateries with gourmet grub. I am totally over going to the same all night diners or greasy burger joints when I've missed the dinner hour.

And we don't have the best Thai restaurants out here either. I was so spoiled in Los Angeles, where there are so many authentic Thai joints, some of which are open late.
YEAH! Where's the late night chill and eat spots???!!!! Good point!
I completely agree with you! I use to hate how I'd walk the little mini strip on Pine Ave. it be crackin! but there don't be no place to eat..
For Thai food I like Thai Basil on Del Amo and Bellflower. It doesn't hurt that I live walking distance from here.

Tiny Thai is pretty good too.

There is a newer spot right on the corner of Bellflower Blvd and Carson St.
Panvimarn

I also agree that there are no late eat spots.
King Taco is an alright Mexican spot. What I least like about it, is that they're aren't any parades or things like that. Or how there aren't enough of... "Stop The War" kind of marches going on. I also don't like how CSULB doesn't have a football team.

We should start throwing annual events...
CSULB doesn't have a football team?
How the heck did I miss THAT one?!

I'm surprised Jeff Severson hasn't done anything
about that!
There's always LBCC {my dad is a FB coach there}!!! LOL at the mention of Jeff Severson. I appeared on his show in HS!
yep - an annual 562CityLife in the park thing...
PARKING! What about Hole Mole?!
http://www.myspace.com/holemolecom

Oh how I'd love to see a mexican street musician playing
inside while I wait for/eat my food...

I hate that Hole Mole doesn't have a drive thru!
I used to really like Hole Mole, I like regular corn torts like that, but something happened and I just got burnt out on them... I was never really a big fan of their burritos... they do hae some pretty good "Not Your Momma Nacho's" Though!
My girlfriend and I moved to Long Beach from Hollywood a little less than three years ago, so horrible parking wasn't a shocker when we got here (we actually don't even own a car, so it's only an issue when we have a rental). Trying to have friends over can be kind of a bear because of it, though.

I do wish that we didn't have to go all the way to Belmont Shore (we live closer to the downtown side of things) for Indian food. Delivery of said Indian food would be even better! Alas, we're a little too far away for that convenience.

One thing I would love to see down here would be a Pink Dot or Yummy. Not so much because we're lazy, but the not having a car thing makes it a minor hassle when we realize we're out of milk or would really like a bottle of wine to go with dinner.

Overall, though, Long Beach's pluses far outweigh its minuses. We never find ourselves regretting our move here!
