What do you like least about living in Long Beach?

Not to be all negative or anything, but we talk a lot about what's good about Long Beach on here... so what about what's not so good? Is it something LB specific or is it more of a SoCal thing?

Here's one of my "issues" - The mexican food kind of sucks... I mean seriously, it's either chain restaurant junk, sorry Acapulco's, or greasy, lardy, fried nastiness, sorry SuperMex.

OK, I went first... now it's your turn...

Cena reminded me, the dirty ocean water is the worst thing about LB
Yea the beach is not the business. Another thing I don't like is the lack of computer gaming cafe's. Remember PC Zone? More of those please.
Definitely. It was a sad day when that place closed, even though I only went there twice.

I say a good idea would be a similar place, but incorporate console games into the mix. And maybe
a little more social atmosphere, instead of a sweaty cave haha.
You're right on that man. The gaming conditions there sucked. Make a new spot, hold competitions, and intertwine console gaming in there so cats can get down on SF4. Hey let's try to open a new spot. Got any connections?
PC zone closed??? :( so much is changing since i left the LBC
Very few people are courteous. It is not just Long Beach, but most of Southern California. Ever notice while traveling how much nicer the people are? For example, go to a fast food counter or drive up window and count the number of people who actually value your patronage or say "thank you". Very few... Southern Californian's have become desensitized to this which is too bad... :-( Remember when autos actually used to STOP for pedestrians? Those days are over out here.
lol, yeah i learned this quite a bit coming out to the south. i've heard of southern hospitality but now that i've experienced it, it feels kindda nice you know? the thing that amazes me the most is one day i left my purse at some burger place like wendy's or something. well i drove about 25 mins until i realized i left it behind so i turned around. another 25 mins later i got to the spot and my purse was still sitting at the table!! i was amazed to say the least (this was when i first moved to the south) cuz let that would've happened to me in southern cali, my shit would've been gone! lol.. i'm laughing now but i would've been pissed to say the least.. ;)
NO good Indian FAST FOOD/Take out!
Regarding Mexican Food. BRITE SPOT on Anaheim rocks of course, there is always Baja Sonora too.

No more issues really :)
mmm kinda agree about the mexican food thing EXCEPT for two great places
1. oly mole
2. the burrito place on obispo and 4th...seriously...you will love it.

so my vote is PARKING issues
Bike theft.

I've had 5 bikes stolen over several years from various locations downtown, but one incident has traumatized me the most.

I'd taken the bike in my car (didn't have a rack), so that I could do some extended beach crusin', with important option of driving home at the end. Pooped at the end of the ride, I was too tired to carry bike in the house, so I left it in the car overnight.

The next morning I find shattered glass and my car door hangin wide open. After making peace with the violation, vacuuming the glass and taping up a temporary window, I sit in the car counting my blessings while listening to the radio.

A man rides up on a bike. I remember that I used to have a bike. The man's bike is purple. My bike was purple. The man's bike looks kinda familiar. The man has never taken his eyes off mine, until the moment he completely comes to a stop, turns the bike around and flees in the direction he'd just came from.

Now, for those of you who don't know me personally, I tend to be a mild mannered person. I was even very calm after momentarily mumbling to myself about the previously unknown thief not having the courtesy of leaving my windshield intact. I have to tell you though, that seeing the person who stole my bike, on my bike by my house, caused a very delicate thread in me to snap. (**Note - this goes on, but you asked so here goes...)

I flick on the ignition and engaged in a one woman hot pursuit, except unlike trained law enforcement, a simple apprehension of the criminal was the furthest thing from my mind. I had every intention of ramming that man and my bike with the front end of my car just on gp to prove a point: you do not steal a person's bike and then just ride it in front of their house like that's just what happens in the world. I was speeding in a residential zone, screeching down streets, thundering out of alleys, cutting corners without signaling, hunched over my dashboard and seeing red.

The thing that brought by snapped thread ends back together was the appearance of little people with back packs trickling out of the local elementary school. The chilling thought of injuring or killing someone, particularly a child, weighed heavily on my mind and brakes. I watched the thief ride off through the park while I unclenched my steering wheel, shaking my head in disbelief at my momentary detachment from sanity.

(This still goes on, but I will stop here, for now. If you want to read the rest, let me know.)
WHAT?! YES we want to hear the rest of this story! You can't just leave us on a cliff hangar like that... funny as hell so far!
Ok... a lot of good points... beach/water and parking are definite no brainers. Thanks for the suggestions on the Mexican and soft ice cream spots. Two of my favorites. By the way, I really like the pizza at Alondra's on Pine...for the person looking for pizza.

My two things:

1. NO gas stations between downtown and the 710. I hate having to go East or North to get gas before I can go West to get on the freeway.

2. No mall! How does one of the largest cities in LA County not have a mall?
