On Tuesday morning, February 7 at 11 a.m. inside the Long Beach Clothing Company store located in Bixby Knolls, Councilwoman Rae Gabelich held a press conference informing the public that she will not be running for re-election for the Long Beach City Council 8th District seat after 8 years of public service.
More than 20 people attended the event where they heard Gabelich officially endorse 8th District candidate Al Austin as her successor. After asking residents to vote for Austin, she guaranteed that Austin was the right man for the job and assured her constituents that they will be in good hands.
Austin is running against Director of Water Replenishment District Lillian Kawasaki and U.S. Army veteran Gustavo Rivera.
Have a look at the photos and video of Austin and Gabelich speaking to 562CityLife after the event.

Permalink Reply by Cindy Frye on February 7, 2012 at 7:34pm I want to thank 562 CityLife for taking the time this morning to cover the announcement by Rae Gabelich that she will not be seeking re-election to the 8th District Council seat. She is a gracious and tireless public servant, and has brought much needed attention to the issues and concerns of her constituents during her tenure at City Hall. I know she'll continue to be intimately involved with her community. I applaud her and wish her the very best.
