What do small businesses do to get customers through their doors? Some might consider various forms of advertising while others rely heavily on word of mouth. With the economy still slowly recovering, it is easy to see that some small businesses wish that a huge mob of people would just show up.
Francisco Dominguez, local Long Beach resident, has decided to bring a fairly new concept to support our local businesses. The first Long Beach Cash Mob will happen on Friday, Feb. 24.
“A cash mob is when a group of locals get together and surprise a local business by buying their products and services, in a single location, at the same time. Similar to a flash mob but in this care we bring cash,” explained Dominguez. Cash mobs have been going on for more than a year and have been popping up all over the world.
There are a few prerequisites for a business to be considered a target of this mob:
The cash mob is expected to be at least 50 strong, with the numbers expected to grow. While the best way to contact the cash mob movement is via Facebook, they are currently working on getting a website up and running.
What do you think about the concept of a "cash mob?" Do you know of any businesses that would benefit from having this mob visit them?
