Multiple news sources are reporting that two Federal ICE agents have been shot by a fellow ICE agent in the Downtown Long Beach Federal Building. Both the shooter and one of the shooting victims have been killed.
No details yet as to the cause of the shooting, but it occurred behind closed doors on the 7th floor of the building. Also, the building is currently being reported as being secure.
We will provide more details as we have them.
*** UPDATE 2/16 9:23pm ***
We have some reports from eye witnesses on the scene of the shooting. They're a little scattered right now, so we apologize and we will keep trying to piece together some of the details.
Please stand by for further facts, as we are currently awaiting an official briefing from the scene.
***Official Statement from FBI and ICE officials on the scene 2/16 10:26pm***
The incident was "Work related violence between two officers of the same agency", officials would not state exactly which agency. There were actually just two shooting victims, the original shooter died on the scene, and the victim is in the hospital in stable condition but with multiple gun shot wounds. The third officer involved in the shooting was not injured, but was the one that shot and killed the original shooter.
Officials declined to state which agencies any of the officers involved in the shooting were from or to provide any names of the officers involved in the shooting. This is due to the fact that they are still working to notify family members.

Permalink Reply by Shelley_Rae on February 16, 2012 at 8:05pm Makes you wonder if the small drug plane diverted today to the Long Beach Airport, from the F 16's, had anything to do with the ICE agent...and if there is a correlation!?

Permalink Reply by LB Chica on February 17, 2012 at 12:02am It was said that there was a dispute between them and the ICE officer shot his supervisor then the third ICE officer shot the shooter & killed him.
Crazy stuff, so sad that this went down.
Talk about your up to the minute news. Great follow-up guys.
Work place violence, even at the federal level. This one is sure to hit the fan.
