on another note- the carpenter center was impressive. the staff was courteous (even the 'manager' took the time to speak with me at length after the show), the facility was clean, great acoustics, cozy, yet the most legroom i've ever seen in an auditorium, and for the first time in decades i wasn't subjected to a demeaning body patdown and search. only 5 bucks to park. it felt like the '80s. well done- i hope to go back.
Comment by toph on January 26, 2012 at 1:30pm this even looks potentially amazing; that is if you are a follower of lou.i believe lou is either loved, hated, or unknown to music followers.
his latest collaboration with metallica is brilliant, but on a much higher intellectual level than what most "head bangers," can appreciate. the album, lola, has gotten undue criticism because it doesn't sound like metallica. big props to the bay boys for taking their artistic expressions to new heights. this was a side project and for the metal heads- just relax, metallica will still continue to rock it.
back to the event at the carpenter center: 45 bucks a person could be the best spent cash ever or a snooze fest. lou is filled with 5 decades worth of musical knowledge and real history (velvet underground, andy warhol, nyc, etc.). bob is an influential producer/song writer.
i think i'll take a chance- lou is certainly unpredictable, difficult, and intoverted- hopefully some of his genius will be displayed friday night. toph LBC
