The American Institute of Architects Long Beach/South Bay is pleased to present guest lecturer, Gregorio Luke, as part of its November meeting. The former director of the Museum of Latin American Art will present the work of architect Luis Barragán (1902-1988), one of Mexico’s most influential 20th century architects. The lecture is open to AIA members and the public at large and features door prizes and more! Doors open at 6:30, lecture is at 7:45, and prizes will be given out at 8:30.

About Gregorio Luke
Gregorio Luke is an expert on Mexican and Latin American art and culture and has presented over 1,000 lectures in museums and universities throughout Mexico, Europe and the United States in institutions such as the Library of Congress, The Smithsonian Institution, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, and Universities such as Harvard, Columbia, UNAM and Georgetown, among others. He is the former Director of the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, the former Consul of Cultural Affairs of Mexico in Los Angeles, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Mexico in Washington D.C. His honors include the Irving Leonard Award by the Hispanic Society of the Library of Congress (1995); Lifetime Achievement Award from The Ebell Club of Los Angeles (2005), El Angel Award from the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts (2005); Local Hero Award of KCET (2008) and in 2007 he was recognized by CATE (California Association of Teacher’s in English) for promoting literacy in public schools.
